Your privacy

Sealegs Digital is me, Dave Simpson. It’s a trade name of 2290269 Alberta Inc., based in Calgary, Alberta. This page says what this site collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.

Updated October 22, 2026

What you send me

If you fill in a form, I get what you typed: your name, your business, your email, and anything else you chose to add, like your phone number or what you’re working on.

I use it to write back to you about what you asked. If you join the First Mate waitlist, I’ll also use it to tell you when First Mate is ready. I don’t sell it, I don’t share it with anyone outside the services below, and I won’t add you to any other list.

What the site measures

Like most sites, this one counts visits so I can see what’s working. Both of these use cookies to do it.

  • Google Analytics tells me how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they came from.
  • Microsoft Clarity shows me how people move through the pages: where they click, how far they scroll, and where they get stuck. It hides what you type into the forms.

Neither one tells me who you are. If you’d rather not be counted, you can block cookies in your browser or use a tracking blocker. The site works fine either way.

Who else handles it

A few services do the behind-the-scenes work. Some of them store data outside Canada, mostly in the United States, where it falls under their laws.

  • Netlify hosts the site, and receives, stores and spam-checks the forms.
  • Google delivers my email (that’s where your form ends up), runs Google Analytics and serves the fonts.
  • Microsoft runs Clarity.
  • jsDelivr serves a few code files that make the pages animate.

How long I keep it

Form messages stay in my email and in Netlify’s form inbox for as long as we’re talking, or until you ask me to delete them. If you become a client, I keep what I need for business and tax records.

Google Analytics keeps detailed visit data for 14 months, then deletes it; overall totals stay in my reports. Clarity keeps session recordings for about 30 days and heatmaps for about 13 months.

Your messages sit in my password-protected email and Netlify accounts.

What you can ask

You can ask to see what I have about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Questions about any of this, including the services outside Canada, go to me at dave@sealegsdigital.com. I’ll sort it out myself, usually within a few days.

If you’re not happy with how I’ve handled it, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If anything here changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
